History
The orchard property was purchased in the early 80s when Eber and Trudy Currier moved to Merrimack, NH. They decided to take on the dormant orchard and bring it back to life.
The farm dates back to the mid 1800s, when it was owned by the Spauldings and was much larger at 400 acres surrounding what is now known as Naticook Lake. As time went by, some of the land was sold for housing, with the remaining property changing hands several times. It became Haines Farm, Hall Farm, then Cady Farm.
Eber and Trudy purchased the property from Jim Cady in 1982. The orchards had been dormant for about six years and needed pruning. They attended many seminars given by the Hillsborough County Cooperative Extension in order to bring the trees back to a healthy state. Eber grew up on a potato farm in Aroostook County, Maine where they had a small apple orchard and was glad to get back to his roots.
Currier Orchards was passed down to their son, Jeff Currier, his wife Bea, and their kids Joy and Caleb. They continue the traditions started by Eber and Trudy, which are to be a farm where families can come enjoy the outdoor experience during the harvest season.
See you this harvest season!
